This cream is indicated for the treatment of superficial infections caused by both gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms. It is also useful in burns, wound healing and skin regeneration in ulcers, otitis externa, postoperative infections, neurodermatitis, and eczema. Additionally, it may be used as an adjunct to systemic steroid therapy in certain types of pyoderma.

Betamethasone is a potent topical corticosteroid that produces rapid relief in inflammatory skin conditions, including psoriasis. Neomycin sulfate is a broad-spectrum bactericidal aminoglycoside antibiotic effective against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative organisms such as Proteus vulgaris and Staphylococcus aureus. This preparation penetrates effectively into the skin and distributes uniformly, making it particularly useful in hairy and intertriginous areas. It is also effective in the treatment of moist or weeping skin lesions.
Contraindications
This preparation is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of its components. It should not be used for otitis externa when the eardrum is perforated. It is also contraindicated in skin lesions caused by viral or fungal infections.
Side Effects
This preparation is generally well tolerated. However, prolonged use or application of high doses may lead to Cushing’s syndrome, acne, thinning of the skin, and dilation of blood vessels, particularly when used under occlusive dressings.
Pregnancy & Lactation
This preparation should not be used extensively during pregnancy.
Precautions & Warnings
Prolonged and continuous topical use should be avoided, as it may promote the development of resistant microorganisms. This preparation should be used in appropriate doses and only on infected areas.
