Colik 20 mg is an anticholinergic drug that has an antispasmodic action on the smooth muscles of various parts of the abdominal cavity. Colik 20 mg are indicated for symptoms caused by visceral spasms in the gastrointestinal tract or the genitourinary tract. It is also indicated in spasmodic dysmenorrhea. Colik 20 mg is indicated for gastrointestinal spasms and acute renal or biliary pain. Colik 20 mg is also used in radiology for differential diagnostic obstruction, to reduce spasm and pain in pyelography, and to eliminate spastic problems in other diagnostic procedures such as gastro-duodenal endoscopy.

Dosage Administration
For oral use:
- Adults: 20 mg four times daily. In cases of spasmodic dysmenorrhea, treatment should be started at least two days before the expected date of menstruation and continued until three days after the onset of discharge.
- Children 6 to 12 years: 10 mg three times daily or as directed by the physician.
As injection:
- Adults: The usual dose for intramuscular or intravenous administration is 20 mg (1 ampoule), which may be repeated after 30 minutes if necessary. In endoscopy, this dose may need to be applied more frequently.
Contraindications
This drug is contraindicated in patients with prostatic enlargement and should be used with caution in the elderly. It is also contraindicated in patients suffering from paralytic ileus or pyloric stenosis. Due to the potential mydriatic hazard, its use is also contraindicated in patients with glaucoma.
Side Effects
Side effects of Hyoscine Butylbromide include dry mouth, pupillary dilatation, increased intraocular pressure, flushing, dry skin, bradycardia followed by tachycardia and tremor. Occasionally, fatigue, vomiting, giddiness and staggering may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation
As with other drugs, caution should be exercised during the first three months of pregnancy.
Precautions & Warnings
Caution: Hyoscine may cause drowsiness and reduce mental alertness. Patients receiving treatment with hyoscine should not drive cars or other vehicles, or operate any machinery where lack of mental concentration could cause accidents. Patients should also refrain from alcohol consumption.
Precaution: In cases of thyrotoxicosis, cardiac insufficiency or failure, and cardiac surgery, this drug may further increase heart rate, so caution should be taken when using it. When used concomitantly with other anticholinergic drugs such as amantadine, some antihistamines, butyrophenones, phenothiazines, and tricyclic antidepressants, the action of hyoscine may be potentiated; therefore, a dose reduction of hyoscine may be necessary in such cases.
