Dr. Shah Md. Ahsan Shahid is a Head of the Department and Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatric Surgery at Rajshahi Medical College, Bangladesh. He is highly regarded in the medical community for his extensive educational background, professional experience, and dedication to advancing pediatric surgery. Dr. Shahid began his academic journey by earning his MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) degree from Rajshahi Medical College in 1995. He further specialized in pediatric surgery, obtaining an FCPS in Surgery in 2006. Driven by his passion for knowledge and a desire to contribute to the field, he pursued a Masters in Pediatric Surgery from Bangladesh Institute of Child Health, BSMMU. Dr. SMA Shahid commitment to research and innovation in pediatric surgery was recognized with the APSB Presidential Gold Medal in 2022 for his contributions to the reconstruction of failed hypospadias patients.
In his pursuit of excellence, Dr. Shahid completed a PhD in Pediatric Surgery from the Institute of Biological Sciences, Rajshahi, in 2017. His dedication to advancing pediatric surgical care in Bangladesh is evident through his active participation in international training programs. Dr. Shahid expertise in pediatric surgery is further demonstrated by his Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) in 2022. He has enriched his knowledge and gained a global perspective on pediatric surgical care through experiences such as the specialized program in Japan focused on Strengthening Pediatric Surgical and Neonatal Surgical Services in Bangladesh for MDG4. Dr. Shahid commitment to excellence and advancement in pediatric surgery make him a respected figure in the medical community.
