This topical lotion is used to relieve pain, itching, and discomfort associated with minor skin irritations such as poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac. It also helps dry oozing and weeping skin caused by these irritants.

Calamine provides mild astringent and anti-itch effects. Zinc oxide offers soothing, protective, and astringent properties, and is commonly used in treating eczema, minor skin injuries, wounds, and hemorrhoids. It also reflects ultraviolet rays and can act as a physical sunscreen.

Adult: Apply 3-4 times daily for 3-5 days.

Administration

Use this medication on the skin only. Follow all directions on the product package, or use as directed by your doctor. Shake the bottle well before using. Apply the medication with a cotton pad, and allow the medication to dry on the skin. If you are uncertain about any of the information, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

No known drug interactions have been reported with topical calamine and zinc oxide.

Contraindicated in individuals with a known allergy to any of the components.

Severe allergic reactions are rare. However, immediate medical attention should be sought if symptoms such as rash, itching or swelling (especially of the face, tongue, or throat), severe dizziness, or difficulty breathing occur.

Pregnancy category has not been assigned. The FDA has not classified this medication under a specific pregnancy category.

Pediatric: Adequate studies regarding safety and effectiveness in children have not been conducted.
Geriatric: No sufficient studies have been performed to establish safety and effectiveness in elderly patients.
