This suspension is indicated for the treatment of acute otitis externa in both adults and pediatric patients caused by susceptible organisms such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, and Proteus mirabilis.

Ciprofloxacin and Hydrocortisone is a combination of a quinolone antibiotic and a corticosteroid. Ciprofloxacin eliminates bacteria by inhibiting essential bacterial enzymes required for protein synthesis, while Hydrocortisone reduces inflammation, including redness, swelling, and itching.

Adult dose: After Cleansing, 2–4 drops instilled thrice to four times a day and at night or as directed by the physician.

Paediatric use: Safety and efficacy of Ciprocort otic suspension have been established in paediatric patients 2 years and older in adequate and well controlled clinical trials.

No clinically significant drug interactions have been reported.

Use should be discontinued immediately if any signs of hypersensitivity such as skin rash appear.

Rare adverse effects include headache, itching, migraine, increased skin sensitivity, paresthesia, fungal dermatitis, cough, rash, urticaria, and hair loss.

There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women; therefore, caution is advised during pregnancy. It is preferable to avoid use during lactation.

As with other antibiotics, prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, including fungi. If no improvement is observed within one week, appropriate culture tests should be conducted to guide further treatment.

Aural steroid & antibiotic combined preparations

Store in a cool and dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children. Shake well before use. Use within 30 days after opening and close the bottle tightly after each use.
