Aravindasav is an Ayurvedic liquid medicine intended for oral use in children. It is effective in malnutrition, indigestion, dysentery, intestinal worms and colic in infants and children. It also acts as a stomachic, nutritive and carminative.
Each 5 ml syrup contains extracts of -
Roktoutpol (Nymphaea lotus): It contains bioflavonoids, glucose, fructose, sucrose, galacturonic acid and amino acids. It is considered beneficial for overall health. Its rhizomes are cooling, sweet, tonic and are used in diarrhea, dysentery, dyspepsia and general debility. It is also used in gastrointestinal disorders and jaundice.
Draksha (Vitis vinifera): It contains sugar, gum, tannins, tartaric, citric, racemic and malic acids, chlorides of potassium and sodium, iron, albumin etc. It acts as a demulcent, diuretic, laxative, stomachic and tonic. It is also used in dyspepsia.
Dhaiful (Woodfordia fruticosa): It has cooling and anthelmintic properties. It is also stimulant and astringent. It is used in dysentery and disorders of mucous membranes. It is also used in headache and fever.
Haritaki (Terminalia chebula): It contains chebulin, tannic acid, gallic acid, resin etc. Chebulin exhibits antispasmodic action on smooth muscle. It is digestive, antiseptic and carminative. It enhances digestive power. It is also used in diarrhea, dysentery, colic and enlargement of spleen and liver.
Amalaki (Phyllanthus emblica): It is a rich source of vitamin C, minerals, flavonoids, amino acids and various phenolic compounds such as tannins, phyllembelic acid, phyllemblin, mucic acid and emblicol. It helps balance stomach acid and improves food absorption. It also enhances immunity and supports brain and mental function. It is used in the treatment of diarrhea.
6 month above to 5 years of children: 1/2 -1 tea-spoonful 2 times daily.
5 years above of children: 1-2 tea-spoonful 2 times daily.
There is no available evidence on contraindications; however, it may occur in patients who are hypersensitive to any of its ingredients.
No side effects have been reported at the recommended therapeutic doses.
