The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is reported to have said, “In the black seed there is healing for every disease except death.”

Modern scientific studies have examined Black Cumin (Nigella sativa) oil and found it to contain strong antibacterial and antifungal properties. Research also suggests it may support respiratory health, reduce inflammation linked to conditions such as arthritis, and assist digestive function.

It is also commonly studied for its potential role in supporting immune system activity. In traditional use, it has been applied for skin concerns such as boils and eczema, and is often associated with relief from cold and flu symptoms.

Composition

Black seed oil contains a complex profile of bioactive compounds and nutrients that contribute to its overall composition.

The essential oil fraction includes Carvone (21.1%), Alpha-Pinene (7.4%), Sabinene (5.5%), Beta-Pinene (7.7%), and p-Cymene (46.8%), along with other minor constituents (11.5%).

Its fatty acid profile is primarily composed of Linoleic Acid (C18:2, Omega-6) at 57.9%, followed by Oleic Acid (C18:1) at 23.7%. Other fatty acids include Palmitic Acid (13.7%), Stearic Acid (2.6%), Arachidic Acid (1.3%), Myristic Acid (0.5%), Linolenic Acid (Omega-3) at 0.2%, and Palmitoleic Acid (0.1%).

Overall, the distribution of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids is approximately 18.1% saturated acids, 23.8% monounsaturated acids, and 58.1% polyunsaturated acids.

In terms of micronutrients, it contains protein (208 µg/g), thiamin (15 µg/g), riboflavin (1 µg/g), pyridoxine (5 µg/g), niacin (57 µg/g), folacin (610 IU/g), calcium (1.86 mg/g), iron (105 µg/g), copper (18 µg/g), zinc (60 µg/g), and phosphorus (5.27 mg/g).

Its broader nutritional composition is reported as approximately 21% protein, 35% carbohydrates, and 35–38% fats.

Dosage Administration

1-2 tsf with warm water & Honey. Gently massage sufficient quantity of oil on dry scalp & hair.
