Carica Papaya Leaf Extract

Generic Medicine
Indications

Carica papaya leaf extract is indicated for thrombocytopenia (low platelet count) associated with dengue fever and chemotherapy-induced thrombocytopenia.

It is also traditionally used for supporting digestion, improving taste perception, relieving constipation, reducing inflammation of the stomach and colon, supporting liver health, boosting immunity, improving skin conditions such as acne, promoting healthy skin, and relieving menstrual pain.

Pharmacology

Carica papaya (family Caricaceae) is a widely cultivated medicinal and nutritional plant. Various parts of the plant, including leaves, have been studied for potential therapeutic effects. Toxicity studies suggest the leaf extract has a high safety margin.

Preclinical research in animal models indicates potential platelet-increasing activity of papaya leaf preparations. Some in vitro studies also suggest membrane-stabilizing and anti-hemolytic properties, which may contribute to its biological effects.
