Fusidic acid
Generic MedicinePharmacology
Fusidic acid is an antimicrobial agent that works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. It interferes with the transfer of amino acids from aminoacyl-tRNA to the growing protein chain on bacterial ribosomes. Fusidic acid is effective against a broad range of gram-positive organisms. Its sustained-release formulation helps maintain prolonged contact with the conjunctival sac, allowing better therapeutic action. Fusidic acid also penetrates well into the aqueous humor.
