Uro-Vaxom is used as an immunotherapy for: Prevention of recurrent lower urinary tract infections (UTIs). Adjunct (co-medication) in the treatment of acute urinary tract infections.
Lyophilized bacterial lysates of E. coli
Generic MedicineComposition
Each capsule contains 6 mg of lyophilized bacterial lysate of Escherichia coli (derived from 18 pathogenic strains isolated from patients with recurrent UTIs). Other ingredients include: starch, magnesium stearate, propyl gallate (E310), sodium glutamate, mannitol, yellow iron oxide (E172), red iron oxide (E172), titanium dioxide (E171), and gelatin.
Pharmacology
Uro-Vaxom is a biological immunostimulant that enhances the body’s natural defense mechanisms. It is used to prevent recurrent urinary tract infections, especially cystitis, and may be combined with other treatments such as antibiotics during acute infections.
It works by stimulating both innate and adaptive immune responses: After oral administration, it activates immune cells (phagocytes and antigen-presenting cells) through pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) in Peyer’s patches (GALT). These activated immune cells mature and migrate to the urinary tract, providing localized protection.
Innate immunity Increases cytokine production:
Enhances phagocytosis and adhesion molecules. Provides rapid immune defense Adaptive immunity: Stimulates lymphocyte activation. Increases IgA and IgG production. Provides long-term humoral immunity in the urinary tract.
By strengthening immune defenses and reducing inflammation in the bladder, Uro-Vaxom helps prevent recurrent UTIs and serves as a long-term alternative to conventional antimicrobial therapy.
Dosage Administration
Uro-Vaxom is indicated for use in adults and children from 4 years of age with dosing as follows
