0.3% Ointment: Each gram of ointment contains Difamilast INN 3 mg.
1% Ointment: Each gram of ointment contains Difamilast INN 10 mg.
Pharmacology
Difamilast is a phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4) inhibitor. It works by increasing the concentration of cyclic adenosine 3',5'-monophosphate (cAMP) , which in turn suppresses the production of inflammatory cytokines. This mechanism exerts its therapeutic effect in the treatment of atopic dermatitis.
Dosage Administration
The usual adult dosage is an appropriate amount of the Difamilast 1% ointment applied to the affected area twice daily. The usual pediatric dosage is an appropriate amount of the Difamilast 0.3% ointment applied to the affected area twice daily.
Contraindications
Difamilast is contraindicated in individuals with a known hypersensitivity (allergic reaction) to the drug.
Side Effects
Well tolerated at the recommended dosage. At higher doses, it may cause mild skin reactions at the application site, such as redness, burning, or stinging.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Difamilast is not recommended for use in pregnant women or those who may become pregnant. The safety of this medicine during breastfeeding has not yet been fully established.
Precautions & Warnings
- For external use only. Difamilast ointment should not be used orally, in the eyes, or intravaginally.
- If any signs of hypersensitivity occur while using Difamilast, discontinue the treatment immediately.
Storage Conditions
Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
