Each 100 grams of ointment contains:
Dithranol: Dithranol may stop the supply of ATP in epidermal cells of the skin, thereby cutting off the energy supply to keratinocytes. This process can at least partially explain the therapeutic effect of dithranol on psoriasis. It also possesses antifungal properties.
Salicylic Acid: It is a keratolytic agent. Salicylic acid accelerates the process of desquamation (shedding of dead skin cells), thereby helping to remove invading fungi and allowing the medication to penetrate deeper into the skin. Through keratolysis, the hard horny layer (stratum corneum) of the epidermis is shed. Salicylic acid dissolves the intercellular cement that binds the scales together in the stratum corneum. Its primary action is to enhance the removal of scales and crusts.
Boric Acid: It has bacteriostatic (inhibits bacterial growth) and fungistatic (inhibits fungal growth) properties.
