Tiemonium Methylsulfate acts as a competitive antagonist of acetylcholine and histamine. It also enhances calcium binding with membrane phospholipids and proteins, which inhibits the contraction of visceral smooth muscles. This action reduces muscle spasms and alleviates pain in affected organs.
Dosage Administration
Tablet/Syrup-
- Adult: usual dose is 2-6 tablets or 3-9 teaspoonfuls syrup daily in divided doses.
- Children: 3 ml/kg or 6 mg/kg body weight daily in divided doses.
Injection: 1 injection 3 times daily, through Intravenous route slowly or Intramuscular route.
Suppository: 20 mg suppository two or three times daily, through rectal route.
Interactions
Tiemonium Methylsulphate tablets should not be taken with other medications without consulting a registered physician to prevent possible drug interactions.
Contraindications
This medicine should not be used in patients with urethroprostatic disorders that may cause urinary retention. It is also contraindicated in individuals at risk of angle-closure glaucoma.
Side Effects
Some patients may experience low blood pressure (hypotension) or rapid heart rate (tachycardia) while using Tiemonium Methylsulphate.
