This preparation is indicated for the symptomatic relief of hyperacidity associated with peptic ulcer, gastritis, peptic oesophagitis, gastric hyperacidity, heartburn, acid indigestion, and hiatus hernia. It is also useful in preventing stress-related ulceration and gastrointestinal bleeding. Additionally, it acts as an antiflatulent, helping to relieve gas-related discomfort, including postoperative gas pain. It provides rapid relief from acid-related pain, reduces gastric foam, and promotes the expulsion of gas and air.

Each tablet contains:

• Dried Aluminium Hydroxide Gel BP (minimum 47% Al₂O₃): 425.53 mg
• Magnesium Hydroxide BP: 400 mg
• Simethicone USP: 30 mg

Each 5 ml contains:

• Aluminium Oxide (equivalent to Aluminium Hydroxide Gel USP): 200 mg
• Magnesium Hydroxide (equivalent to Magnesium Hydroxide Paste USP): 400 mg
• Simethicone USP: 30 mg

This preparation is a combination of non-systemic antacids along with an antiflatulent agent, providing reliable and long-lasting relief. Aluminium Hydroxide and Magnesium Hydroxide reduce gastric acidity by neutralizing acid secreted from the stomach’s parietal cells, thereby helping in ulcer healing and symptom relief.

Simethicone acts as an antifoaming agent. It spreads over the surface of gastrointestinal fluids, lowering surface tension and causing gas bubbles to break down. This action allows trapped gas bubbles to merge and be expelled more easily from the gastrointestinal tract.

This combination is also used to relieve flatulence and abdominal bloating, and to eliminate gas or foam from the gastrointestinal tract prior to radiographic procedures. It is effective in reducing abdominal discomfort and dyspepsia.

Simethicone is physiologically inactive and is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. It does not interfere with gastric secretion or nutrient absorption and is excreted unchanged in the feces after oral administration.

Tablet: 1–2 tablets 1–3 hours after meal and at bed time or as directed by the physician.

Suspension: 1–2 teaspoonful 1–3 hours after meal and at bedtime or as directed by the physician.

Antacids may alter the rate and/or extent of absorption of many orally administered medications. They can reduce the bioavailability of drugs such as theophylline, tetracyclines, quinolone antibiotics, isoniazid, ketoconazole, ethambutol, certain antimuscarinics, benzodiazepines, phenothiazines, ranitidine, indomethacin, nitrofurantoin, fluoride, phosphate, propranolol, atenolol, digoxin, and vitamins. Conversely, antacids may enhance the bioavailability of some drugs, including sulphonamides, levodopa, valproic acid, and enteric-coated aspirin.

This preparation should not be used in patients with renal impairment, hypophosphataemia, or in severely debilitated individuals. It is also contraindicated in conditions such as alkalosis and hypermagnesaemia, particularly when abdominal distension is associated with partial or complete intestinal obstruction.

Gastrointestinal adverse effects are uncommon. However, excessive intake may occasionally result in diarrhea, constipation, or regurgitation.

Use of antacid preparations should preferably be avoided during the first trimester of pregnancy.

This preparation should be used with caution in patients with renal disease.
