Used for parenteral administration of amino acids in severe liver failure (hepatic insufficiency), with or without hepatic encephalopathy.
It is also indicated for providing amino acids as part of total parenteral nutrition when oral or enteral feeding is not possible, inadequate, or contraindicated.

Dosage Administration
- For intravenous infusion.
- Usual dose: 1.0 to 1.25 ml/kg/hour.
- Max. dosage: 1.5 g amino acids/kg/day = 1300 ml/day at 70 kg body weight.
- Constant checking of serum electrolytes, fluid balance and acid-base balance is mandatory.
- Amino Acid 8% is used as long as required by therapy.
Interactions
Due to the risk of contamination and incompatibility, amino acid solutions should not be combined with other medications. If it is necessary to add nutrients such as carbohydrates, lipid emulsions, electrolytes, vitamins, or trace elements to Amino Acid 8% for complete nutrition, strict aseptic conditions, proper mixing, and compatibility must be ensured.
Contraindications
This preparation should not be used in patients with disorders of amino acid metabolism, metabolic acidosis, fluid overload, low sodium (hyponatremia), low potassium (hypokalemia), kidney failure, decompensated heart failure, shock, or hypoxia. There are no adequate studies evaluating the safety of Amino Acid 8% during pregnancy and lactation.
Side Effects
Because of its specific formulation, using this product outside the recommended indications may lead to amino acid imbalance and serious metabolic complications.

Storage Conditions
Amino Acid 8% should not be stored after mixing with other components. Store below 25°C and do not freeze. Shelf life is 36 months. Do not use after the expiry date or if the solution appears cloudy or the container is damaged. Keep out of reach of children.
