Yellow Fever Vaccine provides protection against a serious viral infection known as yellow fever. This disease occurs in certain regions of the world and is transmitted to humans through the bites of infected mosquitoes.
Yellow Fever Vaccine is recommended for individuals who:
- are traveling to, passing through, or living in areas where yellow fever is endemic
- are visiting countries that require an International Certificate of Vaccination for entry (depending on travel itinerary)
- may be exposed to infectious materials, such as laboratory personnel
To obtain a valid vaccination certificate against yellow fever, vaccination must be carried out at an approved vaccination center by a trained healthcare professional. This ensures issuance of an International Certificate of Vaccination. The certificate becomes valid 10 days after the first dose of the vaccine. In certain cases, a booster dose may be required after 10 years.
