Dolocid Hydroxide and Magnesium Hydroxide are indicated for the relief of hyperacidity, peptic ulcer, gastritis, heartburn, acid indigestion, and dyspepsia.

This preparation is a balanced combination of non-systemic antacids known for their effectiveness and good tolerability. It provides reliable acid neutralization without causing acid rebound or significant constipating or laxative effects. Both components help relieve symptoms of hyperacidity such as heartburn, acid indigestion, and sour stomach.

Aluminium hydroxide gel acts as a slow-acting antacid with prolonged duration and strong acid-neutralizing capacity. Magnesium hydroxide also neutralizes acid gradually but maintains a sustained effect. Both tablet and suspension forms possess adsorptive properties, forming a protective layer over ulcerated areas, which promotes healing and protects the gastric and duodenal mucosa from further irritation.

Tablet: Two tablets 1–3 hours after meal and at bed time or as directed by the physician.

Suspension: 2 tea spoonful 1–3 hours after meal and at bed time or as directed by the physician.

This preparation is contraindicated in patients with hypophosphataemia. It should also be avoided in conditions such as alkalosis and hypermagnesaemia, particularly when abdominal distension may be associated with partial or complete intestinal obstruction.

Prolonged use of antacids may lead to alkaluria, which can increase the risk of kidney stone formation due to calcium phosphate deposition.

Use of antacid preparations should preferably be avoided during the first trimester of pregnancy.

Antacids can reduce the absorption of tetracycline when used together. Therefore, concurrent administration should be avoided.
