Pharmacology
This preparation is an antioxidant vitamin capsule containing Vitamins (Vitamin-C, Vitamin-E), minerals (Zinc, Copper), and Lutein for oral administration.
The formulation contains essential antioxidant vitamins, minerals, and lutein. Vitamin-C is present in high concentration within the lens compared with blood levels. Long-term supplementation with Vitamin-C (more than 10 years) has been associated with a reduced risk of cataract formation. It also plays an important role in scavenging harmful free radicals.
Studies have shown that elevated serum Vitamin-E concentrations may be associated with a lower risk of cataract formation, although the exact mechanism remains unclear.
Lutein is a carotenoid highly concentrated in the macula. Clinical and experimental evidence suggests that lutein may help protect the macula against oxidative stress and light-induced damage. Large studies have demonstrated that higher dietary intake of lutein is associated with a comparatively lower risk of Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD), a condition that may lead to loss of central vision.
Zinc is an essential trace element involved in numerous enzyme systems. Mild zinc deficiency may cause impaired taste and smell perception and delayed wound healing. Severe deficiency may lead to skin lesions, alopecia, diarrhea, increased susceptibility to infections, and poor growth in children.
Copper plays an important role in growth, skeletal integrity, and nervous system development. As a component of several enzymes, it participates in multiple metabolic processes.
